Manchester City's hopes of winning this season's Premier League went a notch higher after Saturday's 2-0 win at Leicester City. Benjamin Mendy and Gabriel Jesus netted the all important goals in the second half.

In the early kickoffs, Chelsea suffered a 5-2 defeat in the hands of West Bromwich Albion at Stamford Bridge that ended Thomas Tuchel's unbeaten run at Chelsea. Elsewhere, Leeds United beat Sheffield United 2-1.

Leon Goretzka was on target as reigning Bundesliga champions FC Bayern Munchen downed second placed RB Leipzig 1-0 to maintain their league lead. Goretzka netted home by finishing Thomas Muller's well calculated pass in the 37th minute.
