Given their recent success, a number of the club's greatest players hail from their modern era.
Over on Ranker, Chelsea fans have voted for the 25 greatest players in the club's history and it's no surprise to see a hefty number of stars from the Abramovich era feature.
There are a few players from previous eras who make the cut and you can view the full list below. The order of the top five will certainly spark some debate.
25). Nicolas Anelka
The best spell of Anelka's career came with Chelsea. The Frenchman and Didier Drogba really did their best at Stamford Bridge .
24). Arjen Robben
The Dutchman was electric upon his arrival at Stamford Bridge and it's a crying shame that he only spent three years with the Blues.
23). Eidur Gudjohnsen
A seriously underrated striker. The Iceland hero was key in the Abramovich side and managed to lift trophies in the club.
22). Dennis Wise
Wise spent 11 years with the Blues between 1990 and 2001. His performance was great and today,he's remembered.
21). Jimmy Greaves
What a player! In his 157 games for the Blues, Greaves scored 124 goals - a man born to find the back of the net. He was very strong to attack.
20). Roberto Di Matteo
A brilliant midfielder in his playing days and the first Chelsea manager to carry UEFA Champions League Title.
19). Ricardo Carvalho
A key man in Jose Mourinho's first spell as manager. The Portuguese and John Terry were lethal in the defensive.
18). Joe Cole
During his Chelsea days, Cole was absolutely sensational. An English winger blessed with immense skill, tactics and challenging experience.
17). Branislav Ivanovic
The ultimate clutch player. A brilliant right-back and a scorer of crucial goals, what a player.The Serbian was good in the right defensive
16). Cesar Azpilicueta
Chelsea's current captain has been a brilliant servant to the club. He's played at right back, left back and centre back, excelling in all three roles. The Spanish is very strong to handle.
15). Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink
The man with one of the hardest shots football has ever seen. Also one of the greatest strikers in Chelsea's history.
14). Peter Osgood
A real blast from the past. Between 1964 and 1974, Osgood scored 103 goals in 279 games, a superb return.
13). Michael Essien
The Ghanian midfielder deserves to be on this list purely for THAT wonder goal against Arsenal. He was also a bloody good player as well!
12). N'Golo Kante
The best defensive midfielder in the world right, that's all you need to know.
11). Marcel Desailly
Captain fantastic. Desailly and Frank Lebouef were so, so good at the back together.
10). Ruud Gullit
Gullit only made 49 appearances for Chelsea in the latter stages of his career, but he did win the 1997 FA Cup as player manager. The Dutchman was more aggressive.
9). Michael Ballack
What a free transfer. Ballack was a force to be reckoned with in his four years with the Blues and he recently stated his regret at leaving the club too early in 2010.
8). Ashley Cole
The best left-back in Chelsea's and Premier League history. His signing from Arsenal was a true masterstroke .His skills in the defensive was so brilliant and could save dangerous goals.
7). Claude Makelele
So good that the defensive-midfield position was renamed the 'Makelele role'. He was arguably better at Chelsea than he was at Real Madrid!
6). Petr Cech
During his days with Chelsea, there's an argument Cech was the best goalkeeper in Premier League history. An absolute giant between the posts. Czech had many clean sheet for the Blues
5). Gianfranco Zola
Many Chelsea fans believe Zola is the club's greatest ever player. The man made the game look so easy, scoring goals and assisting for fun in his pomp.
4). Eden Hazard
Probably the most talented player in Chelsea's history. In 352 games, the brilliant Belgian scored 110 goals and notched 92 assists. Hazard could not be compared.
3). John Terry
Captain, leader, legend. Those three words perfectly sum up the immovable object that was Terry, a man who can lay claim to being the greatest centre back in Premier League history.
2). Frank Lampard
Chelsea's record goal scorer with 217 from midfield. A ridiculously good player and one that the Blues still haven't come close to his replacing.
1). Didier Drogba
A worthy winner. Drogba not only scored goals for fun, he turned up in every big games. His equaliser and winning penalty in the shootout against Bayern were the biggest moments in Chelsea's history.
