Not Varane; EPL Star Defender Who Caused France Humiliating Defeat In Their Nations League Opener

France national team suffered a humiliating 2-1 defeat at their own turf against Denmark in their Group A opener tie after Karim Benzema put the hosts ahead in the 58th minute before the Dens stole the show and turned things upside down through Andreas Cornelius brace in the 68th and 88th minutes.

The game was going well on the side of the Blues as Manchester United defender Rafael Varane commanded the defence in style denying the visitors any attempt close to their box. With the scores at 1-0 in favor of France the 32 year old picked up an injury and got subbed off in the 61st minute to pave way for Arsenal's William Saliba.

The sub turned out to be France's worst ever mistake that costed them the humiliating defeat as the Arsenal youngster was constantly caught out of position in the three-man defence in the build up to Denmark's equaliser. He gave Cornelius the space and time to control the ball, and tuck it past Lloris.

The League 1 Young Player Of The Season had a fantastic campaign helping his team Marseille, on loan from Arsenal, to a top four finish, but will have to re assess himself after his first game for France. His positioning last night could be a problem for the Gunners if they take him back from loan as he's unreliable in that aspect which might make him vulnerable in the Premier League.
