This past few years have seen Kenyans become so dominant in long distance races especially the marathon. As things currently stand, this dominance is not going to be over soon.Three weeks ago, thirty seven year old Eliud Kipchoge won the Berlin Marathon setting a new world record of two hours, one minute and nine seconds.Last week,it was again the same old story as another Kenyan won the London marathon. He was twenty five year old Amos Kipruto.
Amos was the only Kenyan in the race and faced stiff competition from six Ethiopians being led by legendary runners Gabraselassie and Kennenisa Bekele.Amos who led from start to finish completed the race in a time of two hours, four minutes and thirty eight seconds. This morning, another Kenyan this time being a woman, won the Chicago marathon in USA.Ruth Chepngetich won the race in a time of two hours, fourteen minutes and eighteen seconds. This is currently the second fastest time in the women's marathon race.
