Kenya 7s Shujaa Off To A Great Start At The Rugby 7s World Cup

The Kenya 7s Rugby team, popularly known as Shujaa, started their Rugby 7s World Cup Campaign in Cape Town, South Africa, on the right footing after thumping Tonga 19-0 in their opening match.

Shujaa's strong forward William 'Lomu' Ambaka, powered his way to the tryline for the first try of the match, beating multiple Tongan defenders on his way to the tryline. His try was converted by Samuel Oliech, taking the scores to 7-0.

Kenya 7s Captain Nelson Oyoo, showed his speed, with a brilliant run down the right wing to score the Second try of the match, with just afew seconds to the halftime break.

The second half looked alittle dull, with no team scoring any points for slightly over 6 minutes, and Kenya's defence being tested for almost that entire time. The Kenyans did well to contain the assault.

Rugby 7s great Collins Injera was brought on for Kenya, and the tide quickly changed in favour of Kenya, with some notable breakdown work by Kevin Wekesa, to secure turnover possession for Kenya, and off the Shujaa went swinging multiple phases, before eventually Vincent Onyala the 'Gazelle' catching a break and combining speed with some adept footwork, to land Kenya's last try of the match that went unconverted.

Full time Scores: Kenya 19-0 Tonga.
