Man Utd: Musk Hints at Buying Club- How a Takeover Could Benefit Ten Hag and Players in the Long Run

Manchester United owners, the Glazers, have been at crossroads with the fans for a very long time. Ever since their takeover in mid 2000s, they have faced countless protests and demonstrations from loyal fans who have accused them of incompetence. The Glazers, aware of the hostile atmosphere around them, have always been passive about the attention they pay to the fanbase, even when calls from fans for investors to buy the club have made headlines.

Elon Musk, arguably the Richest man in the World recently expressed his intentions of buying the club. The comments that followed the tweet were full of support and reeked of relief from fans who have abhorred the hierarchy since their takeover. This new development comes a few days before the biggest protest yet to be seen this weekend when fans will be boycotting the clash against Liverpool by emptying the stadium.

The change of ownership is an idea that has been welcomed by many, even neutrals who believe that it is about time the ruckus surrounding the club should be shushed. The takeover is expected to be liberating not only for the rebellious fans, but also the players and the club’s management. For Ten Hag, it would be a big change since he will be working under the management of new owners who know nothing of how and why he was appointed.

No more pressure from fans and management...

The Glazers are rumored to be quite demanding and rarely think twice of firing their underlings when they can’t achieve their expectations. Going by how United have performed this season, the pressure is definitely on for the Dutch manager. If Musk, by any chance, takes over- the pressure of reaching a certain performance threshold will no longer be there.

Philosophies of how the club ought to be run will be revised and inclined towards the fans’ preference. Players will also be given more freedom to air their views on what they think should be improved with regard to team management. But until then, everyone will have to conform to Glazer’s airtight administrative system.
