The 2020/2021 UEFA Champions League season endeded on 29th May 2021. Chelsea became the new Champions League winners after they managed to win 0-1 against Manchester City. Kai Havertz scored the winning goal in the 42nd minute assisted by Mason Mount.
Chelsea winning this Champions League made Edouardo Mendy the first African goalkeeper to win the UEFA Champions League.
Edouardo Mendy managed to lead as the goalkeeper with most clean sheets in the UCL 2020/2021 season with 9 clean sheets out of the 12 matches he played for Chelsea.
Though this was his first Champions League Campaign, he managed to make approximately 35 saves throughout the season and conceded only three goals. He made one save in their UCL 0-1 win against Manchester City.
In the UCL Semi-Finals he managed to make 5 saves in their second leg 2-0 win against Real Madrid. This is a clear indication that he contributed in bringing Chelsea to the Champions League finals and also in winning the UCL.
