Sports Cabinet Secretary Hon. Ababu Namwamba this morning flagged off the Standard Chartered Marathon. The ceremony took place at Nairobi's Uhuru Gardens. The Cabinet Secretary also urged all the athletes to compete in a clean manner to promote Kenya's reputation as a sporting nation that abides by the rules.

This is one of his moves after he was sworn in office taking over from Amina Mohammed who, at the time of her tenure disbanded the Football Kenya Federation.
Namwamba is also expected to begin the process of solving the impasse that has seen Kenya being banned by the world football governing body from participating in international activities. If his plans succeed, sports will be an avenue for the youth to nurture their hidden talents.
He is also determined to bring back the Kenya Hockey League to its feet after attending one of the matches at City Park Hockey Stadium yesterday.
