Mikel Arteta recently announced that Kieran Tierney has returned to training and this will be a big worry to Nuno Tavares who was just starting to enjoy the ride in the first eleven. The good news, however, is that Tierney’s fitness levels are still in doubt and his participation in Sunday’s match will be determined by how well he responds to tomorrow’s training. This means that Tavares might be in contention to start against Watford FC if Tierney shows signs of strain in tomorrow’s physical training.
Tavares has been phenomenal in the past few games and fans have really enjoyed his involvement in the past couple of games he stood in for Tierney. Through these two games, he earned himself a spot in Portugal’s under 21 squad which was announced yesterday.
For any Arsenal fan, Gabriel Magalhaes' participation in next year’s World Cup is something to really look forward to and his recent call-ups are signs that he might be in contention to play for Brazil next year. Gabriel is having an amazing season so far at Arsenal and maintaining the momentum is the ultimate task as he prepares to represent his country in the highly anticipated competition. The one thing that could hamper his call up however is injury since although he rarely sustains injuries, the few ones he gets are majorly long-term and this could mean that if he gets injured any time soon, it will be game over for him.
Therefore, keeping him fit and conditioned will be a priority throughout the next nine months and Mikel Arteta will personally see to it that anything he requires to improve his game skills is availed to him without fail. However, he faces fierce competition from other world-class defenders who are jostling for a place in the National team squad.
Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has said that having Thomas Partey in front of them has been a real help in helping Arsenal keep cleansheets because he is always a good reader of the game. Magalhaes added that Thomas Partey usually gives them( him and Ben White) clues about how their opponents play and that cuts half of their burden in their defensive duties. He finished by saying that Partey being a defensive midfielder has really strengthened Arsenal in more ways than one.
