Chelsea: Two Big Clubs After Ziyech, Werner's New Spanish Suitors, Xavi's Plans for Azpilicueta

Timo Werner

According to reliable sources, Chelsea are open to selling Timo Werner to Barcelona but only on the condition that a reasonable price is offered for the German striker. Barcelona are reportedly making huge plans to sharpen their frontline and signing Timo Werner would be a big step towards improving the attacking line. Chelsea have been playing fairly well without Werner and therefore the decision to let him go in January is understandable.

The premature exit of the striker will however have an adverse impact on his reputation considering that he was viewed as one of the best center forwards a couple of years ago. Barcelona nonetheless are willing to nurture the young striker and ensure that he rediscovers his form.

Cesar Azpilicueta

Barcelona are keeping a close eye on Cesar Azpilicueta whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season. The skipper has been pivotal in Chelsea’s recent success but having spent over 9 seasons at Stamford Bridge, many agree that it is time for him to move on to a new challenge. Reports have indicated that he is open to a new contract at Chelsea but considering that a new center back is going to be signed in January or next summer, the ideal move for him would be to transfer to another club.

Xavi Hernandez has a good relationship with the 32-year-old and therefore it would not take a lot of convincing to ensure that Azpilicueta is a Barcelona player next year. Thomas Tuchel is yet to address Azpilicueta’s position in his plans but inside sources have asserted that he is of the idea of the skipper leaving in the summer.

Hakim Ziyech

Hakim Ziyech has been impressive, to say the least, and his decisive goals have proven to be a big boost for Thomas Tuchel this season. Ziyech was struggling a lot last season transitioning to the new league but right now it can easily be assumed that he has got a grip of things in the league. There are a number of clubs interested in signing him next summer, including Barcelona and AC Milan.
