Since Todd Boehly's takeover from Roman Abramovich, the six time English champions Chelsea Football Club are yet to sign a new player, but not for a lack of trying as they are continuously being linked with several world class star players.
The West London outfits can finally dig their heels in this summer's transfer market after bidding farewell to six top players, including defenders Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, at the end of last season and they are yet to make a new signing, but are actively working on a host of transfers.
Below are the eight World Class star names that reports in the media have linked to Chelsea over the past few weeks.
Cristiano Ronaldo - Man United
Following the return of Romelu Lukaku back to Inter Milan, a spot has now opened up in the central attack and according to reports by Manchester Evening News, Chelsea’s new co-owner, Todd Boehly, met Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, last week. They allegedly discussed the idea of the 37 year old Portuguese international skipper heading to Stamford Bridge.
Raheem Sterling - Man City
According to reports by Football London, Chelsea and Manchester City are reportedly in advanced talks over the signing of the 28 year old England international this summer. This transfer is looking more likely to sail through as the Englishman is reportedly open to join the Blues.
Ousmane Dembele - FC Barcelona
According to reports by Spanish journalist Gerard Moreno, the Frenchman's current deal with Barca is set to expire this week after contract extension negotiations stalled between the two parties. Being a free agent, the Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is reportedly interested in a reunion with his former Borussia Dortmund winger.
Raphinha - Leeds United
According to reports by top Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have already strike a deal of £65m with Leeds United to sign the Brazilian wideman. The Brazilian was a man in demand this summer with Barcelona, Arsenal, and Tottenham are all interested in his services after a successful campaign with Leeds in the premier league.
Jules Kounde - Sevilla
The 24 year old France international has been on Chelsea's radar for over a year now and despite the player open to changing clubs, a deal is yet to materialize over this period as the Spanish outfits reportedly would only consider bids around £65m which the Blues deem too high.
Mattijs de Ligt - Juventus
In recent weeks, the Dutchman reportedly expressed his desire to leave the Italian giants despite his contract running until the summer of 2024. Now according to reports by Fabrizio Romano, the former Ajax skipper has emerged as a top defensive target for Chelsea ,possibly Antonio Rudiger's replacement, despite having a €120m release clause on his head.
Milan Skriniar - Inter Milan
According to reports by Sky Sports, Chelsea and Inter Milan are on good terms following the successfulness of Romelu Lukaku's loan deal. The reports further added that the Blues are now eyeing a move for Skriniar but will have to fend off competition fro PSG who have already made a €60 million offer for the defender, but Inter turned it down.
Which deal do you think the Blues requires most in order to challenge for titles next season?
