Transfer News: Juventus Still Working on Deal to Sign a Top Striker, Why Boehly is so Hang Up on Signing Aubameyang This Summer

Juventus have been visibly reserved this window as they have restrained themselves from indulging in a signing spree. Massimiliano Allegri wants to be more strategic this time round and that clearly entails signing worthwhile players for free- examples being Angel Di Maria and Paul Pogba. Honestly speaking, Juventus are still a strong side even if they lose half of their squad but for the sake of maintain a certain quota of players, they constantly have to replace their outgoings.

One such outgoing is Alvaro Morata who is reportedly back at Atletico Madrid but considered available in the transfer market. Memphis Depay has been chosen as his rightful replacement at Juventus, with his move bound to be made official by the end of this week. The paperwork are being sorted, since many mountains (contract termination with Barca) had to be moved for the deal to be set in motion.

This move has evoked mixed responses from Chelsea fans who have now been left wondering whether the club is planning on signing new center forwards this summer. Aubameyang has been linked with a sensational move to Stamford Bridge, but the reality is that it will only be on short term deal incase it gets done. For many, signing Depay over Aubameyang would have been the wiser choice since the former is younger, has lower salary demands, and would be joining as a free agent.

Are all experienced strikers out of stock in the transfer market?

Chelsea have been stuck on signing Aubameyang this summer despite Xavi’s insistence to keep the Gabonese. Boehly has a limited radar for players available in the market and it seems that the easier option would be to sign Aubameyang who feels his position at Barca is threatened owing to Lewandowski’s arrival. Signing a disadvantaged player is the smarter option since all top strikers have been put under lock and key by their current clubs.

It is not quite clear where the majority stand on Aubameyang’s move to Chelsea, but fans are hoping that whatever Tuchel is doing is done with full conviction. Half baked decisions like signing Lukaku last summer will not be taken lightly by fans who are anticipating a cup win this season.

Should Chelsea have pushed harder to sign Depay over Aubameyang? Kindly share your thoughts in the comments section below.
