Arsenal: Jonathan David on Superb Form, Agreement Reached for Left Back, Must Win Match

Aaron Hickey

Reliable sources in Italy have indicated that Arsenal have reached a full agreement with Bologna over the transfer fee of Scottish left back Aaron Hickey. Hickey is expected to complement Nuno Tavares and Kieran Tierney next season and with an intense run of games next season, having a deep squad will definitely do a lot of good in preserving the fitness of many players. Arsenal are expected to cash in €20 Million for the 19 year old but the deal will have to wait a little longer since Arsenal still have negotiate on the personal terms with the player's agent.

Arsenal have been lacking in the left back position and the recent act of deploying Takehiro Tomiyasu to play on the left back position is a clear manifestion of that. Nuno Tavares has tried to fill that gap this season but has not been very successful in doing so.

Jonathan David

Yesterday Arsenal transfer target Jonathan David scored a brace that helped Lille OSC sink Saint Etienne in the League 1. David managed to score in both halves with a brilliant header as the first goal and a as the second. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Canadian is keen on changing clubs in the summer and among the clubs that are chasing after his signature is Arsenal. Jonathan David's contract expires next year but he wants to join a club that plays in the Champions League and Arsenal could manage to sign him if they win their next two matches.

Chelsea are also in the race to sign the striker and it is noteworthy to mention that Marina Granovskaia previously held talks with his agents before the whole Roman Abramovich saga erupted. The race to sign the 23 year old will definitely go down to the wire between Arsenal and Chelsea.

The Turn over

Following today's win for Spurs against Burnley, Arsenal are in more pressure to win tomorrow's match inorder to return to the top four bracket. A win against Newcastle United will put them at the forefront of securing a place in the Champions League again.
