Leaving Barcelona was a shock, but Messi adjusting well in Paris

Lionel Messi admitted that having to leave Barcelona was a shock, but that familiar faces had helped him adjust comfortably at Paris St Germain.

The 34-year-old, who began his professional career with Barcelona and is the club's all-time leading scorer with 672 goals, signed a two-year deal with PSG after the Catalan club told him they could not afford to keep him.

"I returned to Barcelona to prepare for the season after taking advantage of the extra days of vacation that the coach (Ronald Koeman) had offered me," Messi told France Football.

"It was extremely hard to take, to think that we would leave our home and that the family would have to change it's routine." added the three times Balloon d'Or winner.

After the "very painful" experience of leaving Barca, where Messi arrived at the age of 13, he's now aiming to win a fifth championship league title.

Messi forms with Neymar and France striker Kylian Mbape, one of the most formidable attacking lineups in the world. But he is aware that they need to work on finding the perfect balance.

While Messi and Neymar have known each other for years, the Argentina and France striker Mbape still need to build relationship.
