Kenyans Celebrate as Another Kenyan Athletee Breaks World Record

Kenya is the home of Champions when it comes to athletics especially long distance races.

Today, World Marathon Champion Ruth Chepngetich has set a new half marathon record in a race at N Koley Instanbul Half Marathon.

Ruth Chepngetich run past Ethiopia's Yalemzerf Yehualaw in the final stages to win the race at a stunning clock of 1:04:02 thus setting new world half marathon record.

Another Kenyan Hellen Obiri managed to come third by clocking 1:04:51 just 11 seconds behind Ethiopia's Yalemzerf Yehualaw. This was Obiri's debut in a marathon.

When World Athletics announced the good news on its official facebook account, Kenyans did not hesitate to celebrate such a great performance by Ruth.

Ruth Chepngetich is also the winner of the race back in the year 2017 and 2019 respectively.
