As expected, Thomas Tuchel made several great changes with Kepa Arraziballaga retaining his starting place after a brilliant show against Tottenham Hotspurs.
Saul Niguez was handed yet another start against the team he was poor against during his debut with Chelsea.
Chelsea showed their intent of winning the game earlier on than Aston Villa as they pushed to score first, but the visitors were relentless too on attack.
All players were impressive, with Kepa Arraziballaga putting another brilliant performance as he kept the team in the game even though it ended in a one one draw.
The two teams got to the penalty shoot out and Kepa came out large with a brilliant save which got the Chelsea players praise him for saving the club.
