Opinion: Ten Hag Steps Up Interest in MacAllister, Sabitzer’s Shaky Future, and More

Manchester City have ramped up their efforts in signing Argentina’s Alexis MacAllister at the end of the season. This comes a day after it was disclosed to the media that Manchester United have now officially entered the transfer race for the Brighton player. The player’s father, who is also his agent, recently revealed that the player is keen on trying new waters next season.

“Manchester United have now entered the race for MacAllister in the summer and for that I think Manchester City will double up their efforts in the coming weeks to overcome that. Pep Guardiola is likely to lose some key players in the summer, particularly Gundogan who has been slated for a move to Barcelona. He believes that MacAllister would be a perfect replacement for the outgoing German,” reported Laura Woods.

Manchester United’s interest in MacAllister can only be explained as a contingent measure to back up Sabitzer’s move in the summer. The board recently decided to keep Sabitzer on a permanent deal after he showed exemplary dedication and passion for the club. The player is also interested in making his stay a long term deal.

My opinion

Fred is another player whose future is riddled with question marks at the moment. Under Ten Hag this season he has been a key player in the starting eleven, especially as a back up for either Casemiro or Eriksen. His reliability has made him almost irreplaceable and that is why inside sources are now not sure whether Ten Hag will pursue with his plan of kicking him out at the end of the season.

Signing MacAllister has my absolute vote in the summer. The Argentinian is among the best in the league but unfortunately does not get the appreciation he deserves. By joining a big team, he will now be under the scrutiny of a bigger audience and that pressure could do a lot of good in helping him unleash his inner potential.
