Having had a difficult time getting into Mikel Arteta's first team, Lucas Torreira was all set to leave Arsenal this season. This had also been pushed by the club's heated pursuit for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey who was to make Torreira's game time even more scarce.
As had been reported by Fabrizio Romano,a sports journalist who works for Skysports, Arsenal had triggered Thomas Partey's release clause which meant that he was becoming an Arsenal player in just a matter of hours.
This clearly prompted the Uruguayan international Torreira to look for greener pastures somewhere else and the same Atletico Madrid came knocking for him.
The two clubs agreed a loan deal for the star that would keep him at Wanda Metropolitano until the end of the season.
Having gone and passed through his medicals,Lucas Torreira will be announced as Atletico Madrid's player anytime by the Spanish giants.
It is believed the deal involves an option to buy at the end of his loan spell at the Wanda Metropolitano arena. Lucas will be the ideal replacement for Thomas Partey who headed the opposite direction on a permanent deal.
