Three days after the World Cup in Qatar came to an end, Wolverhampton Wanderers of the Premier League faced Gillingham of League Two in the League Cup. This marked the return of the top flight teams in England. In the three weeks that the World Cup was underway, Wolves also faced off against Empoli and Cadiz; they drew with Empoli and defeated Cadiz 4-3.
Wolves have had a terrible season since returning to the league, though. They do enter this contest knowing that this will be Julen Lopetegui's first game in charge; he joined the squad a few months ago, but the World Cup prevented him from leading his new team to victory.

Gillingham has only won two games in League Two this year, losing ten and drawing the remaining eight. Ironically, they enter this match without having played last week because their game against Stockport County was postponed. They have conceded 24 goals so far this season.
For this prediction: Wolves to win or a draw.
