Manchester United vs Aston Villa
After their 3-1 loss in the matchday 14 PL encounter, Manchester United will once again lock horns with Aston Villa in one of this week’s EFL Cup 3rd-round ties. For Man United, that 3-1 defeat halted an impeccable run that had seen them pick 8 wins and 2 draws in their previous 10 games. In this tie, they will be pushing for a return to winning ways and a place in the 4th round of this competition so as to remain in contention for one of the Silverwares up for grabs this season.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa will look to build on their bright start to life under Unai Emery and inflict back-to-back defeats on Ten Haag’s men. Going by previous feats in the Europa League with Sevilla and Villareal, Emery is certainly no stranger to navigating through tough games in Cup Competitions. In fact, in his first presser upon arrival at Aston Villa, the Spaniard talked about his dream of winning trophies for the West Midland side. To bring this dream to fruition, Emery will look to obliterate one of United’s trophy hopes just as he did in the 2020/21 Europa League final when he guided Villareal to victory against the Red Devils.
This is certainly another test for Villa who would be buoyed by their recent triumph over Man United. However, given United’s all-round quality and better head-to-head record, we are backing them to win or draw with at least 3 goals scored.
Predictions Manchester United win & Over 2.5goals.
