In football, not every thing goes according to our expectations more so during the transfer window. There are those players that football fans always expect to join certain clubs but this transfers fail to happen. Here are the 5 transfers that almost happened.
1. Cristiano Ronaldo - The Portuguese forward almost joined Sporting Lisbon in 2021 after he announced his exit from Juventus. This would have been a legendary home coming given that this is where he began his career. He however chose to join Manchester United.
2. Erling Haaland - Chelsea were interested in signing the Norwegian footballer in 2021. Borussia Dortmund's interest in wanting to keep him made the transfer not to happen.
3. Virgil Van Dijk - Crystal Palace targeted the Dutch centre back in 2014 when he was playing for Celtics.
4. Sergio Aguero - Chelsea was interested in signing the Argentine footballer when he was playing for Atletico Madrid in 2008.
