There are certain skills that footballers do on a pitch which bamboozle opponents and send spectators home with a sense of awe.
Things such as stepovers and mazy dribbles where players glide past defenders are commonplace, but a bicycle kick goal is a much rarer occurrence.
And one of the most rare skills in football is the bicycle kick with such just few players able to perform it.
The bicycle kick, when executed correctly, is one of the most spectacular sights to be seen on a football field. Also known as a scissors kick or an overhead kick, it describes the action whereby a player with his back to goal kicks an airborne ball backward. It is executed by throwing the body back into the air, and then making a shearing movement to get the ball-striking foot in front of the other, before falling to the ground once the ball has been struck.
The bicycle kick is arguably one of the most artistic representations of football.
While there have been several great players who performed this signature move, only a few have perfected it.
Here are some of our favorites throughout the years, including those two magnicent strikes from Ronaldo and Gareth Bale in the Champions League and even one including a goalkeeper.
