Siaya, Kisumu Win In Trials Openers As Barorot Roots For Support Of PWDs Talent

Uasin Gishu County Deputy Governor Eng John Barorot has called on sports stakeholders to empower and support the growth of special sports talents.

Speaking as he officially opened the National Para Volley Trials in Eldoret on Thursday, Eng Barorot reiterated that county governments and other stakeholders should support the abilities of persons living with disabilities (PWDs).

"Each one of us has a special ability and it is paramount for county governments to empower and support every talent," said Eng Barorot.

The DG reiterated that county governments should tap into the different sports potentialities that persons living with different abilities (PWDs) have.

Eng Barorot also said PWDs need support and empowerment since every human being has a different ability. "Our talents are different as per our abilities as human beings."

County Executive for Sports, Eng Lucy Ng'endo "Our hearts have a special place for PWDs because we appreciate that there are people abled differently."

She added: "As a department, we are working with various federations to ensure that we support and nurture all abilities, we are therefore appealing for parents not to hide their children who are abled differently."

County Director of Sports Henry Mukolwe, said: "The county has been running programs that are aimed at nurturing talent and now we are exhibiting the abilities that we have." Sports Deputy Director, Wilson Koros was at the trials.

Meanwhile, Kisumu and Siaya men's and women's teams respectively realized victories in the opening matches of the National Para Volleyball trials that kicked off in Eldoret on Thursday.

Kisumu women's team beat Narok 3-0 of 25-18, 25-20 and 25-16 to come top of Pool A as Siaya men triumphed over Homa Bay 3-0 of 25-15 25-19, 25-15 to also top the Pool A charts. The games are trials for the Africa Championships set for September in Accra, Ghana. The trials will end on Saturday.
