Julius Yego Shines Again At Kip Keino Classic After Throwing 76 Metres Setting Personal Best Record

Julis Yego, the 2015 world javelin champion, finished second at the Kip Keino Classic Continental Tour meet with a personal best throw of 79.59 meters.

On Saturday afternoon, the men's javelin throw got the competition started at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani.

Yego was impressed by his throw today after throwing 76 meters at the national championships a fortnight ago.

"I believe I have returned. I believe I am now physically fit and ready to resume my previous level of performance. My goal was to throw over 80 meters, and while I fell short, I am pleased with my performance today.

"After being gone for so long, I am ready for championships," he remarked.

Ihab Abdelrahman of Egypt won with a throw of 83.79 meters, while Johann Grobler of South Africa finished third with a throw of 79.11 meters.

"I'm thrilled with the outcome; it's a personal best for me this season." It's still early in the season, and I know I can do better," he explained.

Alexander Kiprotich, another Kenyan, finished seventh with a throw of 75.04m.

Meanwhile, President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is among the dignitaries addressing at the Kasarani Stadium, reaffirmed Kenya's goal to host the 2025 World Athletics Championships.
