During a post match interview, Sterling was not hesitate to show how joyful he was for having captained England in his career.
Additionally the Jamaican born speedster did not forget to state that Gareth Southgate handed him the captaincy role because of his level of maturity.
"It's a great privilege and never in my wildest imagination as a young player coming through did I ever think I would captain England one day, it comes with maturity the manager sees in you, the passion and love I have for the country." Sterling told Skysports.
As a captain, Sterling's performance was outstanding throughout the match as he managed a goal and an assist for his club.
