Cristiano Ronaldo headed back to Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo failed to report for pre season training when manager Erik Ten Hag asked his players to report for training. Ronaldo did not participate in the just concluded tour that saw Manchester United play in Bangkok and in Australia. The team travelled back to Manchester and after a break on Monday, they will resume training on Tuesday at Carrington.

On Monday evening, Cristiano Ronaldo was reported to be travelling to Manchester. He is set to hold talks with the club and clear the air concerning his situation with the club. The timely flight to Manchester could see him make it for training on Tuesday morning with the rest of the team but at this stage, it is unclear whether he intends to join the team on Tuesday if at all he will.

Manchester United find it positive for Ronaldo to travel back to Manchester and this strengthens the hope of having Ronaldo at the club. He is expected to have a one on one conversation with Erik Ten Hag for the first time since he was confirmed as manager. Ten Hag has always been looking forward to working with Ronaldo and this is his opportunity to convince the player to stay. Together with the club, Erik Ten Hag still sees Ronaldo as a key figure for the upcoming season.
