Chelsea are yet to sign any players in this summer's transfer window, despite Tuchel's desire to rebuild his squad. However, the German coach is still keen to add some defensive and attacking reinforcements.
Chelsea's priority target recently emerged as Raheem Sterling, and the Blues are working behind the scenes to complete his deal. The English winger has a year left on his contract at Etihad and has expressed a desire to leave the club following the arrivals of Julian Alvarez and Eirling Haaland.
Sterling is eager to return to London after selling his home and Chelsea are currently working on the last-minute technicalities to satisfy Manchester City's £45 million demand. The Blues are hopeful that the transfer will be finalized quickly so that the former Liverpool star may travel with them to the United States for their pre-season tour.
Under Guardiola, Sterling has played a significant role, although the addition of Jack Grealish last season has cut down on his playing time. Despite that, the English winger posses an impressive performance. Last season he scored 13 goals and provided five assists in 30 games helping Manchester City retain the EPL title. Tuchel will be hopeful that Sterling's addition would bring some balance to his forward line and help him with his goal-scoring struggles.
