The red devils have recorded a series of poor performance making it hard for them to battle London giants Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham for the fourth position as they are currently placed 7th with 51 points.
Due to decline in performance and fans disappointment, the club officials have been under pressure to search for a new boss who will turn things around at Old Trafford.
Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag and Paris Saint Germain coach Mauricio Pochettino are the ones leading the race to succeed the German manager Rangnick.
Erik Ten Hag has already verbally agreed to take over at Old Trafford if the club agrees with his conditions. He has also clarified that if he joins the team, Cristiano Ronaldo will not be a priority.
During a press conference Rangnick praised the Ajax boss saying that he is a good manager and has done a good job at Ajax.
“I don't know if it's a done deal. We all know he is a good manager, and he's done a good job at Ajax and former clubs,” he said.
