West Ham had a chance to bring the game to level terms after they were awarded a penalty in the first half but Alisson Becker stood firm and denied Jarrod Bowen.
In other matches, Everton lost one nil to Newcastle while Southampton recorded a 1-0 win against AFC Bournemouth.
