Arsenal: Winless January Adds Pressure on Arteta, Injury Scare on Defender Addressed, and More

Aaron Ramsdale

Arsenal are struggling a lot to be within the top four race and this showed after their dismal performance against Burnley over the weekend. Aaron Ramsdale has however said that the team is working together more than ever to ensure that the club clinches a Champions League spot next season. He also said that the training sessions have been intensified and the tactical approaches suggested by the technical staff are being all but tested in the training sessions.

With the Gunners out of all the competitions, it only makes sense that all the concerted effort by the club’s fraternity is focused on improving the league position. Fans have been rallying their support behind the club all this while and hopefully, their call for rapid improvement will be heard and implemented.

Mikel Arteta

Mikel Arteta has been doing a lot of head-scratching in the past couple of weeks particularly because things are not panning out as he would have expected. Arsenal are currently 6th in the PL table and although they have a game in hand, recent shortcomings have hampered the team’s progress in the league. As for the January campaign, Arsenal have not won a single match which is quite frustrating for the fans and an added pile of pressure on the manager.

Arteta however seems to have the full backing of the board after it was revealed that the Spaniard’s entourage is expecting a new tabled contract for the manager. A two-year contract with an increased salary assured is in the offing and the 38-year-old is expected to append the signature before the end of the season, preferably now during the international holiday.

Leah Williamson

Arsenal Women FC, like their brother club, have had a January month campaign to forget. Their worries have been heightened by the injury scare on assistant captain Leah Williamson who had to be subbed off after the first half against Manchester City after she showed signs of intense fatigue. Headcoach Jonas Eidevall however confirmed that the 24-year-old was fine and the team’s medical team is assessing her wellbeing at the moment.
