Manchester United has continued their poor performances and progress under interim coach Ralf Ragnick despite parting ways with club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. United were heavily linked with Mauricio Pochettino but his contract with PSG ruled him out of contentions to replace Ole at the hit seat.
Antonio Conte is recognized as a great coach who could turn around the fortunes of the club. However, the egis and personalities of the players at the club were expected to hinder any progress given Conte's managing style. Conte is a strict authoritarian and would have rubbed shoulders with some of the senior players which would have unsettled the team after Ole had managed to bring the players together after Jose Mourinho's disastrous spell in Manchester.
Manchester United took too long to make a move on Conte with fast acting Tottenham Hotspur snapping up the Italian coach. Tottenham have since gone on to stead their ship and are looking an improved side thanks to Conte's micromanaging managerial style.
Ralf Ragnick is not seen as a long term coach at Manchester United leaving them wondering 'what if' had they gone for Conte who was looking forward to a challenge with one of the biggest clubs in the world.
