Long distance race

Kipchoge message concerning the current Ukraine invasion after winning in Japan.

Eliud Kipchoge has been one of the consistent athletes in the world's history of sports. Each competition is his time to shine. Beating records after records is a norm to the 35-year-old runner from Kapsisiywa in Nandi County. Eliud made history in 2019 at Viena, Austria when he took less than two hours to complete a 42 Km race.

A few hours ago he did it again in Japan. At the Tokyo 2022 World Marathon, Kipchoge clinched the Olympic gold medal after completing the race in 2:02. After the win, Eliud took to his Facebook page to express his feelings.

"I am so proud to win in the streets of Tokyo, where the people have running in their hearts and minds. After winning my second Olympic Gold medal in Japan last summer, I returned to Tokyo to run a strong race. And this is what I meant with a strong race, 2:02 victory, and new course record.

Finally, I want to say I want this world to unite. If there are differences I want us to meet and speak, not fight. My win today is to bring positivity in this world." He wrote.

What stood out in his post is the current war crisis in Ukraine. The war has been going on for weeks now and many people have lost their lives and properties, courtesy of disagreement between Russia and Ukraine.

Kipchoge argued that there is no need to fight, rather it's kind to speak things out. A powerful message indeed.
