Manchester United are planning to develop Old Trafford in a bid to modernise the stadium and increase it's capacity. The Glazer family promised to Inject money into the club as they try to improve the standards of the club.
However, the options of how to redevelop the stadium have been shocking. There are three options on the table as suggested by engineers. The first option is to knock down Old Trafford and build it from scratch again, rebuild and extend South Stand and the other option is to leave stadium structurally intact but conduct a revamp of spectator and corporate areas.
The idea of demolishing the Old Trafford is shocking considering the rich history of the club. It is even amusing that it was among the options suggested. It is however real and part of the proposals that competing architects and engineers have been examining as they bid for the contract to carry out on the stadium.
On the positive side, it is understood that the South Stand revamp appeals most to the Glazers and is probably the path to be followed. Of the three options, it seems like the cheapest and considering the history of Glazers family spending on the club, it is the most likely option.
