Latest News: Olympian Agnes Tirop found dead with stab wounds.

Kenya's 5000m women's representative to Tokyo Olympics Agnes Tirop is dead.

Tirop was on Wednesday October 13 found dead in her house in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet county.

According to the reports, she had stab wounds in the abdomen.

Police together with Forensic team from the Iten police station are currently at the scene.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the heinous act was done by her enstranged husband.

Athletics Kenya through President Jackson Tuwei has immediately expressed shock upon confirmation of the sad news, saying Kenya has lost a jewel in the sports.

"Athletics Kenya is distraught to learn about the untimely death of World's 10000m bronze medallist. We are still working to unearth more details surrounding her demise."

" Kenya has lost a jewel who was one af the fastest- rising athletics giant on the international stage, thanks to her eye catching performance on the track," read part of AK's statement.

JustLast month, Tirop Broke the women only record in the women's 10 km race at Road to Records Race in Germany timing 30:01.

Last week, she finished an impressive second timing 30:20 at the Valencia half marathon.

Tirop's decorated CV also include Cross country tittle in 2015 during which she made history as the second youngest medallist at that level.

She also Won the Africa cross country champions in 2014 in Kampala, Uganda as well as the world's junior cross country champions in 2013 in Bydgoszcz in Poland.
