FRA 4-5 SUI: End of Road For France as N'golo Kante Hopes of Winning Ballon d'Or Vaporises

N'golo Kante's hopes of winning the 2021 Ballon d'Or award have seemingly ended after his team France was crashed out of Euros by Switzerland in the round of 16 of the competition.

The thrilling night clash started with Switzerland boasting a 1-0 lead in the first half following Seferovic's header before France made a comeback in the second half to make the scores 3-1 by the 75th minute, thanks to double shots from Benzema and Pogba's terrific shot.

Switzerland who sacrificed all they had to destroy the World Cup holders threatened a comeback as Benfica striker Seferovic fired the second goal for his National team in the 81st minute.

Dinamo Zagreb forward Gavranović made a late equalizer in the 90th minute to put the scores in a 3-3 draw, forcing the game to progress to Extra time.

Switzerland subsequently won 5-4 on nerve shredding penalty shootouts and are now through to the quarter-finals of the competition where they will face Spain.

As a rule of thumb, France and Chelsea Midfielder N'golo Kante would have maximized his chances of winning this year's Ballon d'Or award if he could have managed to win the Euro trophy with France.
