Pep Guardiola mother dies from Coronavirus

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has lost his mother to the deadly disease Corona virus.

According to Manchester City website, Dolors Sala Carrio died in Manresa, Barcelona at the age of 82 after contracting the disease.


"The Manchester City family are devastated to report the death today of Pep’s mother Dolors Sala Carrió in Manresa, Barcelona after contracting Corona Virus. She was 82-years-old," the website read.

"Everyone associated with the club sends their most heartfelt sympathy at this most distressing time to Pep, his family and all their friends," Manchester City said in a statement on Twitter.

Khaldoon Al Mubarak , the club chairman said in a statement:

"Our prayers and heartfelt sympathies are with Pep and his family at this overwhelmingly sad time.He and they have the love and support of the entire City family."

Fellow premier league club Manchester united also has sent the sympathies to Pep Guardiola who has been in his home country, Spain after the postponement of the league.

"Everyone at Manchester United is saddened to hear this terrible news. We send our heartfelt condolences to Pep and his family," read their statement on Twitter.

Yaya Toure, who played under Guardiola through his Twitter account also has send his condolences to the family following the loss of the mother.

"RIP. Condolences and thoughts with all family," he said.

Last month, Pep Guardiola made a personal contribution of €1m (£918,000) to help his home country of Spain fight COVID-19.

 Liverpool, Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur have also paid their respects.

Others includes Norwich city, Brighton and Hove Albion, Nottingham forest and Wolves Hampton Wanderers in England.

According to Worldometer, Spain has a total of 135,032 Cases of corona virus and 13,169 Deaths .
