The Gunners were in action today against Everton in their final match of the season. They were still hoping to finish in the top four ahead of Tottenham who were just two points ahead of them.
Gabriel Martinez opened the scoring in the 27th minute through a penalty before Eddie Nketiah made it two three minutes later. Everton pulled one back three minutes later through Van De Beek in the added minutes of the first half.
In the second half, the Gunners came in with more energy as they added the third one in the 56th minute through Cedric Soares before Gabriel Magalhaes made it four in the 60th minute.
Martin Odegaard who has been outstanding this season sealed the win for the Gunners in the 82nd minute.
In that match, one of the players who impressed is Nicolas Pepe and grabbed an assist. Pepe has been starting from the bench in most matches this season despite his impressive performance at the beginning of the season.
Today, he gave Everton defenders a headache to stop him with his great speed. His skills and great footwork made him to easily unlock Everton defence. Pepe came on in the 77th minute and displayed an impressive performance.
He created multiple chances up front and his crosses gave Everton defenders a headache to defend them. His top performance proved he could have been of great help to the Gunners this season especially in the top four race if Arteta had given him more playing time.
This now means that Pepe top performance in today's match proved Arteta wrong for always benching him in most matches this season.
