Preview of blues past performance

In the first season of Thomas Tuchel as manager, Chelsea transformed into a possession based playing. The club went on to winning their second champions league trophy. Despite all that Chelsea struggled on the second season of Tuchel as the coach and were disqualified by Real Madrid in the quarter finals of champions league.

The club also finished 3rd in the English Premier league and fans were furious of the clubs inconsistency by loosing and drawing a series of matches.

In the beginning of July, Chelsea traveled to the United States for their pre-season. The club had scheduled 3 friendly matches against Club America, Charlotte fc and the final one against Arsenal.

"Captain america" Christian Pulisic gave Chelsea an early goal but Chelsea struggled and missed several open chances. The goal was equalized in the late minutes of second half by a penalty kick after a handball by Trevor Chalobah. The penalty kick was converted to a goal by Daniel Rios.

After a draw, the game was decided through penalty kicks. Gallagher lost a penalty and therefore Charlotte won the match after scoring all 5 penalties.

Chelsea's lack of consecutive wins sparked mixed reactions as some fans blame the forwards for lack of sharpness infront of goal.

Will Tuchel solve the issue of scarcity of goals ?

Chelsea have signed england international winger Raheem Sterling from Manchester city to strengthen their attack.

He made his debut for the blues when he came on in the second half of thier match versus Charlotte. Sterling was one of the penalty takers and put the ball into the net.

Chelsea still needs to sign more wingers who can easily convert chances to goals easily with the current ones unable to take the responsibility.

Having signed Senegalese defender Kolidou Koulibouly from Napoli, chelsea are still in the market focusing on making some more signings to bolster their squad.

Winning the premier league requires consistency in winning matches and the blues should ensure this so as to compete for the title. Its important to wait and see if the team plays according to expectations.
