Arsenal: Arteta To Hold On To Wantaway Star, Tammy Abraham's Transfer Plot

Here's what's going on at the Emirates:

Arsenal failed to qualify for next season's Champions League. This situation will not only affect the club's appeal to some players during the transfer window, but it will also affect their ability to retain some of their best players. William Saliba is one player they may struggle to keep.

The Frenchman has been a standout for Marseille, helping them finish second and qualify for the Champions League. Saliba stated in an interview following Marseille's final game of the season,

"I want to come back and play in the Champions League. I have never played in it and I want to discover it here."

Saliba may want to return to Marseille, but it appears he will have to settle for playing in the Europa League. Arsenal have the final say on where Saliba plays next, and according to the Daily Star, Arteta believes Saliba "has to come back."

Arsenal are looking for a reliable number nine. With Arsenal's lack of goals a source of concern last season, Arteta will need to be selective in who he signs. Meanwhile, AS Roma will face Feyenoord in the UEFA Conference league, and Arteta will be watching.

Arteta will be watching that game to see if Tammy Abraham is the striker he requires. Last summer, Arteta failed to sign Abraham, who went on to join As Roma and score 17 league goals in his debut season.

According to the Express, "Arsenal are still monitoring Abraham's situation closely, and remain extremely interested in a deal for the young England striker. But although they're keen on a move, it may be too late."
