Barcelona returned to winning ways after edging rivals Athletic Bilbao at Camp Nou 2-1, goals courtesy of Lionel Messi & Antonie Griezmann. Alba conceded an own goal under pressure in the 49th minute to gift Bilbao a consolation goal. Barcelona were too strong hence secured their 12 LA liga Santander victory to go on level points with rivals & defending Champions Real Madrid. Following the victory Barcelona climbed up to second in the LA liga table standings with 40 points but a superior goal difference of +23 compared to Real Madrid who have +17 after losing 2-1 to Levante.
Atletico Madrid extended their lead at the top of LA liga Santander standings to 10 points with a match at hand after demolishing Cadiz 4-2 away. Luis Suarez scored a free kick & a penalty to extend his lead in the LA liga Top scorer chart to 14 goals as former team mate Lionel Messi Free Kick goal moved him up to 2nd with 13 goals. Niguez & Koke also scored for Atletico Madrid to make it 40 goals in 19 LA liga fixtures (2nd highest in the division) as Barcelona have scored 41 LA liga goals this season while Real Madrid have scored only 35 goals. Atletico Madrid 4 players including Torreira, Joao Felix, Koke & Kongogbia were shown yellow cards for Tripping, Unsportsmanlike conduct, Holding & foul play respectively.
