African representation in the Qatar 2022 World Cup was this evening put into test to continue and match up the good performances put up by Senegal and Cameroon. Tunisia was up to take the defending champion France who put forward their young team for the task. Tunisia were the better side for the first half with a goal being denied by the VAR.
After Tunisia took the lead in the 60th minute through captain Khazri, the French side had to make some serious changes that brought in Rabiot, Ousmane Dembele, Mbappe and Antonio Griezman to try and solidify their position at the group having already qualified for the knockout stages. The Tunisian goalkeeper had to make a superb save from Kyllian Mbappe who wished to bring his side back to the game. The French side pressed so hard for an equaliser by pinning the Tunisian defence so deep into their half. The Tunisians dream of remaining in the competition was dampened by Griezman's goal with only thirty seconds and by the fact that Australia won their other group match.VAR however ruled the goal for offside to grant Tunisia the honor to beat the defending champions by a goal. However, Tunisia failed to qualify to the round of sixteen. Good performance though not just enough but all in all it is a glorious performance.
