United dominated the match from the first minute to the last but failed to secure a tittle. Villarreal were the first to score through Gerald Moreno in 29 minutes but their Jubilation was cut short by Edison Cavani strike in 55th minutes that leveled the results to 1-1. Despite too much effort Manchester United failed to score a winning goal until the normal 90 minute where the game proceed to extra time.
The extra time saw the two giants fail to score a decisive goal untill they entered into the penalty shootout to where Manchester United Spanish goalkeeper failed to convert his shot and gifted the Unai's boys much awaited trophy.
It's was an evening United will never wish to remember as no one expected them not to come with the trophy in England.
