‘World’s Sexiest Athlete's" Olympic Debut Takes Unexpected Path

Germany's track and field star Alica Schmidt, who is commonly referred to as "the World Sexiest Athlete" has dealt a blow after her expected Olympic debut took a new twist.

The 22-year-old athlete was expected to compete for her first Olympic medal in the women's 4 by 400m mixed relay over the weekend but didn't see any action after the German mixed team was disqualified from the competition for making contact with the Jamaican team.

There is, however, there is still a glimmer of hope for Schmidt to make her debut as she can still be selected by Germany for the women's 4 by 400m relay on Friday.

Schmidt has been documenting her time inside the Olympic Village she said in an Instagram post that preparation at the camp was great and the food is delicious.

The German international noted that she is focusing on her strengthening and activating her leg muscles through basic training methods such as squats and lunges.

“About 30 percent of my training is focused on strength. For the most part, explosive and functional full-body exercises are on my schedule,” she said as reported by New York Post. “It’s super effective.”

She said that she has about seven to eight training session a week that lasts between two to three hours.

Despite her popular life, Schmidt has indicated that her sport, track, and field is her top priority.

“My focus is on the sport. Social media tends to run alongside,” she said.

She noted that she is using Instagram as her side-hustle that gives her income whenever she is not in the field running.

“Off the track, I’m grateful to my followers, because Instagram enables me to do my sport without having to have a part-time job,” Schmidt said.

“It is difficult to make a living from athletics alone.”
