Why Cristiano And Lukaku Might Fail To Win The Golden Boot Despite Their Top Performance Yesterday

Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku were on target yesterday where they scored twice to help their club win all the three points. Despite their top performance, they might end up not winning the golden boots this season.

Ronaldo and Lukaku are considered as some of the best finishers in the world. Last season, they had dominated the Italian league where Ronaldo was the top scorer with 28 goals followed by Lukaku whose 24 goals helped Inter Milan win their first Seria title in 11 years.

The arrival of these two makes the golden boots race to be more competitive. Despite their recent top perfomance, they might fail to win the golden boots. One of the reason is high competition in the top scorer spot.

The EPL is known to be one of the most competitive league in the world. For a player to win the golden boots he must be well equipped to challenge for it. Last season Harry Kane was the top scorer with 23 goal while Salah was just behind him with 22 goals.

In 2019, three players, Aubameyang, Salah and Mane were awarded this award after they tied on 22 goals. This shows how competitive the top scorer spot is. Another thing is Ronaldo is past his prime which means he won't have that consistency in scoring goals. He is currently 36 years of age which means he is prone to injuries which might slow down his pace.

Lukaku on the other hand might also fail to win this award due to his inconsistency. When he joined Manchester United a few years ago, he started the league so well but ended up struggling to score in the end. The same might repeat this season which might make him fail to win this award.

This now means that, lukaku and Ronaldo might fail to win golden Boots award despite their recent top performance yesterday.
