800 meters world record holder David Lekuta Rudisha has today announced some good developments indicating that he may soon return to athletics after undergoing a successful surgery according to a Facebook post on his page.
“I am glad that on Saturday 20th I had a successful surgery of removal of an implant on my left leg that has been there for the last one and half a year. At least I will be back soon doing some running!!!!” the post read.
The champion suffered a fracture back in 2020 while walking on an uneven ground at his Kilgoris home in rural Narok County. Rudisha last participated in athletics in 2017 where he raced four times. He is looking forward to the 2022 competitions.
Rudisha first won the 800 meter race in 2012 with a record of 1:40.91 that still holds till today. He also won the title in 2016 before suffering a series of injuries that have kept him out of his career. We wish him all the best as he plans to make a comeback.
