The 35-year-old has been targeted by Manchester United to become their third goalkeeper next season as back-up to Dean Henderson and David De Gea after the exit of Sergio Romero late last week. United wants a perfect replacement for Sergio Romero, who has been frozen out this season and is set to leave when his contract expires next month.
Veteran goalkeeper Lee Grant has been third choice shot-stopper since he joined Old Trafford from Swansea City. Aston Villa's first-choice goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was the top target to replace De Gea at Old Trafford, but his mammoth wages made it very difficult for The Red Devils to secure him this summer.
He joined Aston Villa from Burnley in 2019/20 summer and has 20 appearances before suffering a knee injury midway through his first season at the club.
