Morgan Freeman kicked off the opening ceremony of the Qatar World Cup after a controversial lead up to the biggest global tournament in football. The Oscar winning actor narrated the opening segment. "The Calling" at Al Bayt Stadium in Doha. He told the crowd. "We gather here as one big tribe and earth is the tent we all live in."
The opening ceremony was one to remember as the FIFA World Cup Qatar kicked off in a spectacular fashion. The hosts played against Ecuador in the opening match of the tournament. Ecuador dominated the match and managed to win by two goals to nil. The South American country now lead group A with three points. Qatar became the first host team in history to lose the opening match.
