Kenya Tops Africa Medal Standings At The Tokyo Olympics

The Tokyo Olympics are coming to an end this Sunday. Kenya had a slow start in the Tokyo Olympics but they have still managed to stay top of Africa in the Medal Standings of the Olympics. Hyvin Kigen won Kenya's first medal in the Tokyo Olympics after she finished 3rd in the women's 3000m steeplechase. Emmanuel Korir and Ferguson Rotich then won Kenya Gold and Silver respectively in the men's 800m final.

Hellen Obiri won Silver in the Women's 5000m final while Benjamin Kigen won Bronze in men's 3000m steeplechase final. Peres Jepchirchir and Brigid Kosgei won Gold and Silver respectively in the Women's Marathon.

Timothy Cheruiyot won Silver in the men's 1500m final to make it 9 medals for Team Kenya with one race remaining, The Men's Marathon. Kenya are currently ranked 25th globally and 1st in Africa Medal Standings.
