"Age is just a number." The saying goes. Well, it might not be in some cases. When it comes to football, age is very important. For this reason, some Footballers tend to lie about their age. Most of them reduce their actual age in order to have more years of playing professional football. However, one footballer shocked the world when he lied about his age with a difference of 12 years. Gourav Mukhi is the man.
Gourav is an Indian professional footballer who currently plays for the Indian side, Mohammedan FC. He is currently 31 years of age. Gourav lied about his age so as to have a much longer time to play football. Back in 2018, everyone knew that Gourav was 16 years. However, his real age was 28 by then. The forward was playing for Jamshedpur FC when it was discovered that 16 years was not his actual age.
In October 2018, he was celebrated as the youngest player to ever score a goal in the Indian League. When his real age was discovered, he was banned from playing football for six months by Indian Soccer Federation (AIFF). It was also revealed that Gourav had been earlier kicked out in an Indian under 16 National camp three years earlier because they released that he was overage.
He now plays for Mohammedan FC.
