Callum Hudson Odoi
According to reliable sources from Italy, Liverpool are monitoring the situation of Calum Hudson Odoi whose position in Thomas Tuchel’s squad has been eroded by recent events. Recently, it was revealed that Odoi was planning to acquire a Ghanaian passport which will enable him to play for the African country, and this has not sat well with the Chelsea board who have accordingly sanctioned his involvement in Chelsea’s matches.
Liverpool are said to be prospecting the odds of signing the 23-year-old and could make the sensational move in January. Odoi was recently linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund during the summer transfer window but the bid was rejected and blocked indefinitely after Marina Granovskaia insisted that Calum Hudson Odoi was not for sale. Could Liverpool swoop the player in January?
Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso has decided against taking the knee before the game meant to emphasize EPL’s stand against racism and online abuse. Alonso becomes the second player to make this decision after Crystal Palace striker Wilfred Zaha said that he will not be taking the anti-racism knee late last season.
Alonso’s reason concurred with Zaha’s where he explained that taking the knee has lost its essence in the fight against online discrimination and abuse. He said that he is in full support of the fight against racism, but he wants other radical approaches to be used to combat the different forms of discrimination. He said his action should not be mistaken as a sign of giving up, but as a proactive step towards sensitizing society about trying other measures to stem out the vice.
In today’s press conference, Thomas Tuchel praised Thiago Silva’s performance and position in the team. He said that Silva’s age should be overlooked because his form and performance do not complement his age. He added that Thiago Silva’s consistency is what amazes him the most followed by his commanding aura at the heart of the defense.
